Italian Studies at Emory University

Italian Studies at Emory University is a program based in the Department of French and Italian with links to several other Emory College departments. The program offers an interdisciplinary major focusing on the study of Italy from various perspectives: literary, cultural, historical, artistic, philosophical, and political.

In addition to a major in Italian Studies, the program also offers a minor in either Italian language or Italian Studies.

Italian Language Program at University of Georgia in Athens

UGA Romance Language's Italian Language Program is the largest Italian studies academic program in Georgia. It contains links to study abroad opportunities, weekly discussion groups, course listings and syllabi, degree and minor requirements, and other language-specific resources from the Department and the University. The Cortona Program

For 37 years, the University of Georgia Studies Abroad Program in Cortona, Italy has been a leader in international arts education. With approximately 200 students per year, this Program provides a challenging opportunity for the serious art student who wishes to combine international travel with an intensive studio and classroom experience. Situated in the splendid region of Tuscany, the medieval hilltown of Cortona offers a rich historical environment where students can easily integrate with the lifestyle of a typical Italian community.

Italian Studies at Georgia State University

The Italian Studies program is designed to provide students with an understanding of the vast and varied impact Italian culture has made on the world. While emphasizing the need for students to speak fluent Italian, a variety of Italian courses and extra-curricular activities work to develop cultural fluency, or an appreciation and understanding of culture and its expression. Studying the Italian language necessarily entails analyzing Italian music, art, philosophy, history, cinema and politics. The Italian studies program provides students with the opportunity to master a language that has contributed significantly to Western literature while taking into consideration the multi-faceted nature of linguistic and cultural fluency.
