A NEW OPPORTUNITY TO PRACTICE YOUR ITALIAN
As some of you have read, we have come up with an idea which has been prompted by umpteenth requests I received from our members during the years. It is about a place where smaller groups can get together on a regular basis for actual conversation in Italian. We never truly had such a place for quiet and exclusive practice. Being open to anyone, our meetings often end up splitting in smaller groups that converse in mixed languages. The idea of gathering independently from our monthly regular meeting to exclusively speak Italian has been floating in my mind and in that of many members for a long time. So we decided that meeting at a cafe’ works. The date will be wedged between our regular monthly gatherings. Since this is self-managed, the participants may decide to schedule this group more often, as often as twice a month. The time of the meeting is crucial, given that Atlanta’s traffic has become an ominous barrier for those traveling during rush hour. I’ll be there to welcome and get the group going, though I would prefer that the group elected a leader and became autonomous. Unlike our regular meetings where we collect funds for our expenses, there shall be no door charge at these conversation meetings. I hope you like this idea. If the activity gets momentous, an Italian instructor could be hired to lead the session. So, let’s try this formula and see how it goes!

ITALIAN MOVIE SCREENINGS AT THE PLAZA!
A 2024 Cinema Italy Special Event
Our Film Festival is typically scheduled toward the end of April. Recently the Ministero della Cultura Italiana has contacted our festival director, Claudio di Persia, for showing four Italian movies in Atlanta and Miami Last October. Our 2024 Italian Film Festival is still pending scheduling. Stay tuned for date and location. The Plaza Theatre is located at 1049 Ponce De Leon Ave NE, Atlanta, GA 30306.
OUR TRADITIONAL CHRISTMAS PARTY
Our Christmas Party is traditionally hosted by our director, Giancarlo Pirrone at his home in in Ansley Park. Festive atmosphere, singing songs, rivers of Prosecco and lots of prizes. This is our fundraiser and there will be raffle tickets available at the door. This event allows us to support programs such as our annual Italian Film Festival.
