OUR FABULOUS JUNE CLUB MEETING!
Our June Club Meeting is going to be held at the stunning home of Marie and Mike Weeks. Marie was born in Venezuela in ’68. Her maternal grandparents were from the province of Salerno. Her grandfather was from Torraca and her grandmother from Vibonati (two small villages in the hills above Sapri). Marie’s mother was also born in Venezuela, but we always traveled to Italy during her childhood.
Marie is in love with Italy, its language, culture and food! Mike and Marie married in ’97 – Mike is an American from Georgia who loves languages and speaks Spanish, German, and is now learning Italian. After getting married, they lived in Madrid and took advantage of the opportunity to go to Italy many times during those four years. Marie learned Italian as an adult, at the Italian Cultural Institute in Madrid. She won a scholarship and went to Siena for six weeks to continue learning the language.
Now that their son Mateo is at the university, their dream is to go to Italy for 6 months to enjoy “il dolce far niente” (the sweet art of doing nothing), live the sweet life and become truly bilingual. This is the second time they host Ciancia.
Door Policy:
As for our most recent meetings this is a pot-luck gathering. Feel free to bring a dish ready to consume, and/or a bottle of wine or Prosecco (per person). If you bring both you get in free. Otherwise you pay a $10.00 fee. Empty handed? No problem, a $20.00 fee per person will get you in – cash or Zelle, please. All funds collected at the door go to support our monthly expenses and the rest go to financee the Italian Film Festival.
